Traditional Dental Braces
Traditional dental braces are used in orthodontic treatment to straighten teeth on most boys, girls, adults, teenagers and kids/children to correct malocclusion.
Malocclusion refers to the misalignment of your teeth such as under bites, overbites, cross bites, open bites and crowded or crooked teeth. Only a board-certified orthodontic dentist can diagnose and treat malocclusion.
Dr. Dhayni is a board-certified dentist providing cosmetic dentistry services, such as traditional braces, to the Warren, Michigan / Metro Detroit Area. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Dhayni to determine if traditional braces are right for you, please call (586)-558-8200 or email us. Our office is located at 30205 Schoenherr Rd, Suite E, Warren, Michigan 48088.
Upon your initial consultation, Dr. Dhayni will consult with you and inspect your teeth to determine if braces are suitable for you. In some cases, Dr. Dhayni may determine that Invisalign - invisible braces, is better suited for you. If, both, you and Dr. Dhayni determine that traditional braces are right for you, a records appointment is set-up.
At your records appointment, Dr. Dhayni will take x-rays, photographs and impressions of your teeth to create a treatment plan for straightening your teeth. An appointment is then scheduled to have your braces applied to your teeth.
Before your braces are put on, an etchant is applied to help the adhesive bond to the surface of your teeth. A metal or clear bracket is then applied with dental adhesive to your teeth and cured with a high-intensity light until hardened. A stainless steel or nickel titanium wire connects the brackets and little rubber bands (come in various colors) hold the wire in place. In some cases, molar bands are required (usually on the teeth in the back of your mouth) to make sure that brackets will stick. If so, orthodontic spacers are inserted between your molars to make room for the molar bands.
Every 4 to 6 weeks your will return to see Dr. Dhayni to have your braces adjusted according to your treatment plan. Typical treatment times vary and depend on the complexity and level of malocclusion, but most people wear corrective braces between 1 and 3 years. Once your teeth are correctly aligned, your braces will come off and a retainer is most often required.
How Much Do Braces Cost?

How Do Braces Work?
Braces work by applying constant and gentle pressure to your teeth, causing
them to shift into alignment over time. Brackets are placed on the front
of each tooth and wires are attached to the brackets with elastic bands.
The elastic bands absorb the tension of the wire and the teeth then align
themselves to the shape of the wire.
It's Affordable
Most insurance plans will cover at least a portion of the cost of braces,
including Invisalign invisible braces. For the remaining balance, we offer affordable
payments with easy, interest-free financing.
